What Do I Put In A Fountain/birdbath To Discourage The Birds ? ?

it is a large fountain with a lady that water trickles from . The pump is electric . A lot of birds come to this fountain , it has become nasty . The birds are large blackbirds , you know the ones that look straight up when they are preening-posturing . large birds large mess . prolly holds 20 gallons of water

You could probably mount 3-4 motion sensors that would activate a tape loop or constant replay CD, with an outdoor speaker or speakers mounted somewhere in the structure. You would need as many different loud noises as possible so they’d not see it as a trick.
You could probably get away with putting something like that for less than $100…maybe half that if you searched for the parts in surplus electronics stores or catalogs.
I wouldn’t use any poisons…you don’t know what else might drink from the fountain…

or scream and run at the fountain when they come
this will also start to attract
pidgeons
sparrows
house finch
mournig doves
and any other kind of bird that might be passing by
it was funn for me to watch my neighboor try to get rid of the birds but the house finch were kool cuzz they sing almost like canarys
