I am planning on building about a 500 Gallon Pond and have available a 2000 GHP pond pump Powerjet 2000 by Laguna. Is this just to powerful for my to be pond or is this better for kepping the pond clean for my fish and turtle. Also my Filter only handles up to 1400 GPH which is a Pressure-Flo 1400 by Laguna. Will this pump aslo be to strong for the filter. Thank you for your help I love this site.

i made the mistake of getting too bigger pump for my filter box
i fixed problem by teeing off from main, and putting in an old
fashioned pump, and this sorted the problem
you only need to recycle half of your water every hour so if you have a 500 you need to pump at least 250gph that is min but if your filter can only handle 1400gph what you cold do is use your 2000gph pump install a T and send one side to the waterfall and the other to the filter you may want to install a ball valve to the filter side so you can regulate the water going into the filter so it is equal or less than the amount going to the falls since the falls will be higher than the filter more water volume will end up going to the filter
