First Water Garden, Filled Up With Rainwater…?

This is my first water garden, I just dug a small pond and got the liner in. Well, of course it rained last night and now my pond is filled with muddy rainwater. It is less than 100 gallons, so pumping it out wouldn’t be out of the question… just annoying. I wasn’t planning on installing a filter since it is a smaller pond, just using a fountain to circulate and oxygenate the water. Planning on putting in plants and goldfish in a week or so. Is there any other options for removing the dirt from the water besides draining or getting a filter? I was also wondering if anyone knew of any good websites with info on caring for water gardens.

Help With Floor Fountain?

I’ve always wanted a floor fountain, but just can’t see paying up (or over) $2,000 for one, so I decided to go at it myself. There are a few questions I have. The one I’m going to build is going to go into an open basin of water where there will also be a water mister to give a neat effect.
For the back (the part the water runs down), I’m looking at a piece of black plexiglass about 6.5-7ft tall, 3.5-4ft wide. I’m going to pour cement into the bottom of the water basin and place the plexiglass inside of it and let it dry, any other idea for that?
My main question is after I hook up the pump what do I plumb the other end of the pipe to? What do they use to let the water trickle down? And also what would the best way to hide it at the top?
Thanks!

Help With An Old Fountain/pond?

I just bought a place that has an old man made pond. It was owned by an old lady that was in a wheel chair for years so the yard was in real disrepair. I have cleared away the brush and have dug down a bit on the pond. It has white sand below the layer of dirt on top and has a small plastic pipe embeded in the head ( larger grouping of rocks that form a wall ) and nothing is attached to the pipe. Is this where a pump would go to run the water from the pond over the rocks? why is there sand in it? wont that clog the pump? do ponds have running water or can I just fill it every once in a while? What is the best way to figure out how the pond was operated? This pond is about 5 feet across and looks to be about 4 feet deep and slopes down towards the bottom.

I live in Pennsylvania and the pond temperature will flucuate from a nice summer day to a bitterly cold winter. The pond does have a pump and fountain so the water is circulating. But the amount of algae is clogging the pump too often. Thanks for any and all advice.

the pond is a few months old, size about 8 foot by 4 foot, 2 foot deep. the pump is both fountain and waterfall and on all the time. I have a lily in and a small plant from a local stream. no expensive fish, just a goldfish which i hope to add about 3 more to. water very cloudy, can’t see much below surface.

I am planning on building about a 500 Gallon Pond and have available a 2000 GHP pond pump Powerjet 2000 by Laguna. Is this just to powerful for my to be pond or is this better for kepping the pond clean for my fish and turtle. Also my Filter only handles up to 1400 GPH which is a Pressure-Flo 1400 by Laguna. Will this pump aslo be to strong for the filter. Thank you for your help I love this site.

What Is The Best Indoor Fountain Pump With On Noise?

I just bought a small fountain pump from Home Depot and it’s very noisy. I tried to put a sponge underneath it, put more water, adjust the speed of the water flow, etc. and nothing works. Is there any quiet pump on the market?
