What Are Your Thoughts On This Goldfish Pond?

We live in South Georgia and have a pond in our backyard that is approx. 100 ft x 50 ft x 5 ft deep. Right now it has channel catfish and bream. We have dug a canal from corner of this pond that is about 12 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft deep and have a bridge over this stream. There is mesh wire under the bridge to be bottom of the stream so that the catfish/bream cannot get into the canal. We pump well water into the pond via a fountain head a few times a week to keep it full. We want to put goldfish and koi into the canal. Will this work? We were hoping that we could transfer the goldfish and koi into the big pond once they started to outgrow the canal. Would that be ok? The biggest catfish in the big pond are about 12 inches at most. Also, there is no type of filtration on the pond other than the fountain but we do want to build a simple waterfall (without a filtration system) at the end of the canal. What do you think of this setup and do you think it will support the goldfish and koi long term? I want them to grow big! How big do you think they will get in this type enviroment?
Thanks!

What Would Cause The Radiator To Completely Dry Out?

I’m renting a car, a 1986 Suzuki Samurai to two colleagues. They have been driving it daily in very hot weather (35C/95F at midday) up a mountain pass.
Yesterday, they returned telling me the car broke down. They described hearing a ticking noise which would get louder with gas application, followed by a “pop”, followed by the engine completely dying. When I showed up with my mechanic, we found the radiator completely dry and the head gasket blown (when he put water in the radiator and started the car up, the water came spurting out like a fountain). Later, he also found that the water pump was bad.
My question is, what is the likely order of all this happening? The drivers admitted they hadn’t checked the water levels in >2 weeks, despite the hot weather and mountain driving, and despite the odd ticking noise. But the water levels had been reportedly high when they did check them. There was no previous sign of a leak (I’d driven over a higher mountain pass several times without appreciable changes to water levels).
Basically, I need to know who’s responsible for covering the repairs. If the water pump busted first and caused this problem, I’m responsible. But if their negligence in not checking the water levels caused the radiator to dry out, which in turn killed the water pump (and the head gasket) they’re responsible.
Thanks!

What’s a nice fountain you came across recently? I need one with high water sound not the ones with a pump sound higher than that of water?

What Is Needed For An Outdoor Turtle Pond?

Okay so I need some assistance. I live in a tiny town and apparently the not so smart people at home depot and walmart don’t know what they are talking about. I purchased a 125 gallon hard preformed pond for my backyard. I have a pond turtle in a tank in the house that needs to go outside.
I just want to get it started and the rest will follow:
I need the following:
1) A Filter
2) A Pump
3) Water Fountain Head Attachments
Just to get it started…The rest is ornamental/plants/fish..which I can do.
The guys at home depot keep telling me that the filter is on the pump. But the filter is so small I don’t see how it can filter for a pond turtle. Can you help me with links that shows which three pieces I need to buy to make this pond start to work. The filter is what is really throwing me off. Just seems like I need something more than just the pump filter. I want something that will help keep the pond clean too.
Anything Solar would be great as well. Thank you!

I live in Pennsylvania and the pond temperature will flucuate from a nice summer day to a bitterly cold winter. The pond does have a pump and fountain so the water is circulating. But the amount of algae is clogging the pump too often. Thanks for any and all advice.

it is a large fountain with a lady that water trickles from . The pump is electric . A lot of birds come to this fountain , it has become nasty . The birds are large blackbirds , you know the ones that look straight up when they are preening-posturing . large birds large mess . prolly holds 20 gallons of water

Solar Powered Fountains, What Kind Of Pump?

Hi and HELP!!! I have a small solar powered fountain in my front yard that I absolutely love, but it needs a new pump. I have been browsing and can’t find what I think I need. Where might I find a decent, ( and inexpensive) pump for my small (about 3 feet tall) cascading water fountain? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I WAS TOLD SHORTLY AFTERWARDS THAT IT COULD CAUSE TOO MUCH HUMIDITY & CAUSE MOLD! I HAVE 7 NICE SIZE HOUSE PLANTS IN THE SAME ROOM. I ALSO HAVE 3 CHIHUAHUAS & A CAT THAT CAN REACH IT TO DRINK, I ADD FRESH WATER IN IT EVERYDAY & IT HAS A NICE SIZE PUMP IN IT SO IT TURNS THE WATER GOOD. WHAT ABOUT THE HUMIDITY???

What Non-toxic Way Could I Color Water White?

I am using an old milk can as a water fountain and want it to look like milk is spilling out of the can continuously, but the substance used to color the water can not be thick to clog a circulation pump and it needs to be non-toxic incase the children get into it becouse it will be at ground level.

We have a little fountain (200 l) which pumps the water permanently through three stones. I have to brush the stones twice the week otherwise they get green and look terrible. Has anyone an idea how I can prevent that the stones get green?

ok, i am making a water fountain for my ecology class (its an end of the year project for the teacher) anywho i will be using atleast and most likly 2 pumps to transfer water to the next stage
the stages will be
evaporation: water in an aluminum tray being pumped up to a make shift cloud
condensation: this will be a single cloud that will contain a metal fliter that will give the illusion of rain when water passes through it (please note i have a question about this part later also)
and then run off: a bucket that contains water provided by the “rain” stage will be pumped up into a make shift mountain which will flow over the edge down the side of the mountain looking like a river flowing down. this water/stream will lead back into the aluminum tray to start the cycle again.
now heres my main question(s):
i was wondering what would be the best WATERPROOF material to use inorder to make the outer layer of the mountain? i am using foam board instilation for th inner layer of the mountain to make the shape
question 2
what would be the best way to go about making he rain cloud i have aready decided to have it be suspended via plastic/metal pipe holding it up? im really more interested on how to setup the filter then actually making the cload but any tips will be appreciated
*please note that this is an art project so it will be givin a name and pictures will most likly taken for evidence
ty for all contributions

Not sure if fountain is the right word, just a large rock with a hole in the top so water can spill out of the whole over the front of the rock. It will be approx. 7 feet tall, spillway approx. 2-3 feet wide. How many GPH pump do we need?

I am planning on building a copy of his Hydraulic Water Pump (http://imagecache5.art.com/p/LRG/29/2939/JUYRD00Z/leonardo-da-vinci-hydraulic-water-pump-for-a-fountain-codex-atlanticus-1478-1518.jpg) the one on the the bottom. and i have figured almost everything out, but i was wondering what kind of pump he would have used to pump the water to the higher level?
i would like to use one that uses no electricity, and will move close to 100% of the water to the higher level- so it will constantly will keep on working.

The fountain is a full size old hand well pump which sits on a large flat stone with a hole to resevoir pan below. Total lift is approx 36″. The hand pump outlet is 1 1/2 inches in diameter into which I installed a diffuser so water should hit inside edges of outlet and fall from pump. There is a water pail hanging below which I will make leak substantially so water returns to resevoir. I am looking to achieve a natural looking discharge of water for pump as it would when pump was operated by hand.

What Is The Best Indoor Fountain Pump With On Noise?

I just bought a small fountain pump from Home Depot and it’s very noisy. I tried to put a sponge underneath it, put more water, adjust the speed of the water flow, etc. and nothing works. Is there any quiet pump on the market?

People who know birds generally know that they love the sound of running water – it attracts them and makes them sing. I’d like to build a simple, pole-mounted bird-bath / water fountain for my birds outdoors. I’m trying to locate a pump for the water – preferably solar powered. Inexpensive, reliable, no issues with priming, enough of a flow to make a little sound.
1. What kind of pump is best?
2. What’s a good vendor for this pump?
3. Is it realistic to power it with solar? Source / type of solar celll?
