So I’m finally going to do it. I have wanted an in-ground gunite pool all my life. I had a couple of builders out to measure and due to utility easements and sewer lines, etc, I can only get about a 10′ x 30′, not sure how big that is really, still have to ‘map it out’ in the yard. So my questions are – what options should I get? Is the colored luminescent light worth it? I’m thinking of getting the salt-water chlorination system as well. What about 250,000 BTU vs 400,000 BTU for the hottub? Any kind of ‘arc fountain’ type things? What’s worth it and what’s not? Is Jandy or Hayward better for pump/filter/automatic pool vacuum? Would it be worth it for me to pay an extra $500+ to have my sewer line re-directed?

I recently added a waterfall which falls into both my pool and my spa. I have a 2 1/2HP circ pump and a 3/4 HP Booster pump for the Polaris, but the flow seems low. When I have the waterfall valve open, the return jets open, and the valve to some fountains open they just don’t give alot of flow. I have to partially close off some of the valves to get the waterfall and fountain to give adequate flow. I am wondering if adding a booster pump just for the water fall will help, or do I need to purchase another circ pump to get the flow up?

I had a soft-rubber lined in-ground fish pond with a waterfall & now, I am wanting to convert it to a wading/floating pool.
I have drained it, scrubbed it & now, refilled it…
Testing the chlorine & PH, I find that the chlorine is high(almost a 5) and the PH is very low (about 6.8)
Researching on-line, I came across someone who says that aerating the water well will help the ph levels come back up over the course of several days. Does anyone know if having a water pump & fountain constitutes as aerating the water well? And if so, if this will in fact raise the ph?
I have been told to Shock it.
But I have to plead ignorance…I read the Shock bottle and I don’t see anywhere that it states it will affect either one of these.
If you cannot tell, I really do not know what I am doing and any guidance would be appreciated.

I use a little fountain pump to remove most of the water. When I get down to the last half inch remaining, there isn’t enough water to reach the suction inlet on pump. That’s still a lot of weight when you try to remove the cover. Which is too heavy for me to pull off.
